Webinars ...

I've never done or been apart of a webinar before. In fact I've never been apart of anytime of long-distance education. Since I've had littler knowledge and experience with the webinars I found this weeks readings helpful, along with getting a better understanding of what needs to be involved.

I watched a lot of webinars from Infohio which was the most helpful in prepping for class this week.  (I'm a very visual person). My initial reaction to webinars is the seem really weird and it seems like it is really easy to make a really bad and boring webinar. I also found that as the listener, it was very easy to get distracted from what they were talking about. You have the chat box, the person talking, and texts on the slides. It was like information overload. On top of that, you have your Internet browser up ... making it very easy to check your e-mail 26 times in 10 minutes, and then get lost in a Twitter conversation.

I can see how they could be very useful and very inexpensive. It is a really cool idea, the thought you can be miles away from each other but interacting and learning. It opens up a lot of new opportunities for students and colleagues as well when it comes to learning. I kind of wish the environment was a little more different. Maybe more interactive? I'm not sure what the word is I'm looking for.  I don't mean to sound so critical of them or weirded out by them. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
